Swimming
Godzilla Boy participates with two swim teams this fall. The first one, Chester YMCA, has the benefit of having meets every other Saturday, but we practice only on Thursdays. The other team is Poseidon, we practice every Sunday and this one is just instructional. We’re hoping that he will learn more of the mechanics of swimming since he hasn’t gotten any formal instruction on the Summer swim team.
He did pretty well this past Saturday at the meet. He had a blast playing with the other kids and learning a new routine. The winter team has the entire basketball gym to hang out in until their turn to swim. So we spread out chairs and blankets, toys and books, coffee, water and lots of snacks, and just chilled until our events.
He swam in a relay first, and they did pretty well. I think GB was confused because the Chester Y does not allow diving at one end of the pool, so he had to get in the water and wait until his team mate touched the wall before he could go. He was the anchor.
Then he did a backstroke event, and then a freestyle event. He didn’t look like he had really learned anything yet. But then, on Sunday, he was smoking in the water at Poseidon. We just have to get him to do that at meets!
