Christmas Unit
During the month of December, we will work on a Christmas Unit study. Being 8 years old, I feel this is a great progression into the knowledge of actuality. I don’t want a **BAM** type of knowledge, just a tippy-toe into the arena of knowing about Christmas, and Santa, and myths, and legends. I’d like to keep him as innocent as possible, for as long as possible.
So, we are doing a notebook that will include information on the following:

- Read The Nutcracker and listened to the accompanying CD
- Language Arts
- Created a story about being one of Santa’s Elves for a day
- Sent a letter to Santa
- Created a hand-written letter to bring to Santa at the mall. We used our new Italic handwriting
- Labeled Christmas sentences, identifying nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs
- Crossword puzzles
- Science
- Tracked Santa’s trip using Norad
- The Science of a snowflake
- Crystals, Christmas and Science
