Our homeschooling Adventure

Catapult

Filed under: Homeschooling, Family Life, Fun stuff — Robin on December 30, 2007 @ 1:36 pm

GB got a catapult kit for Christmas. So this morning he brings it out to the family room to start putting it together.

I was worried. We are not the handiest family with tools and things like that. But I was pretty impressed with this kit. Every piece went together the way it was supposed to. And it was easy enough that it didn’t frustrate GB at all.

I believe that GB has OCD tendencies. He must group all the parts together. At least I don’t have to worry about how messy his room gets. He hates a messy room.

This is the base for the catapult.

This is the support system.

…. And the finished product, ready and waiting for launch.

GB’s targets went from the untraditional, Santa, back to the traditional: his medieval battle troops. He had a blast playing with this toy, so I can highly recommend it.

  1. Now that looks like lots of fun! And, I wish my dd had a little OCD tendancies… well, maybe not. But, I wish she liked to keep her room cleaner! Me, too, for that matter!

I hope Mrs. Claus survived! :-)

  2. What a fun, educational gift!

Thanks for stopping by …. I just love how the blogging world enables us to connect with so many people we otherwise wouldn’t likely meet.

I’ve browsed through some of your posts and many won’t allow me to leave comments (I assume you’ve closed older posts to comments). Anyway, I wanted to say that I love that you are not afraid to tackle topics you may be uncomfortable with.

Even though I am a certified teacher, I also have doubts. When I started this journey, my thought was to take it one year - even one day - at a time. Ideally, I’d like to homeschool at least through Jr.High. If the children want to continue through HS, I am game. :)

Although we’ve only just begun, we are all learning a lot and enjoying the process.

I’ll be adding you to my blogroll…. feel free to pick my brain for activity ideas. I taught 4-6th grade science for four years and 5th grade for two years. I have lots of materials (particularly science and social studies) for middle level grades. :)

  3. Nice kit! I had been thinking about that kit for Superboy, but decided he needed to just go ahead and design his own. Uses up more energy and keeps him outta my hair a bit longer!LOL!
And congrats to Aquagirl on the awesome grades!

  4. That is SO cool! I enticed James to study the Middle Ages in the coming year by offering to let him build a catapult. I’ll take a look at that kit. My kids definitely have OCD tendencies (one has outright OCD) but not the kind that foster tidiness. *LOL*

Congratulations to Aquagirl! That is awesome. :-)
