Our homeschooling Adventure

Wednesday happenings

GB and I had a really full day today.

We started with our Language Arts. GB has gotten pretty good at it. I really think it’s because he discovered reading over the Summer. Now he can plow through a thick book with hundreds of pages in less than a week. So today we worked on sentence structure and learned about fiction vs. nonfiction. While I was working some age-defying magic on Grampa’s hair, he took a spelling test, and had a quiz on the sentence structure.

After school we went to lunch with Grampa and then hit the bowling alley. I had an abysmal day at the alley. I was terrible. I can’t get over my scores. I thought my first game was bad, I got an 80, but then my second game was even WORSE. GB didn’t fare too much better, but he did beat me. We really wanted to beat Grampa, but I don’t think we have a snowball’s chance at that……….ever. And, fyi, I think Grampa enjoyes whallopping us.

When we got home we only had one hour to get some History lessons done. We learned about the grasslands in Asia today. Kind of dry for me, but GB seemed like he was pretty interested. Tomorrow we’ll go into a little more depth on that subject. Maybe I can get into it a bit more.

Then my sister came over to get her hair colored. Usually that’s pretty tiring, but today she also wanted a highlight on top of her color. Do I even have to mention that my back is now on FIRE! She looks great, though. She’s the younger sister, so she’ll always look great to me.

Her kids had a great time with GB today. It was funny because at one point my little niece says to her brother and GB, “Let’s not play war anymore, let’s play….. uh, house!” At which point both boys chimed in together with, “No way!” So she very good naturedly continued shooting nerf guns across the house and yard. Giving as good as she got. What a girl!

Well, before I go, I thought I’d leave you with a fun little Christmas computer activity. It’s a virtual gingerbread house that you can decorate online. It’s really fun. Too bad you can’t save them and send them to people. I sent the link to Aquagirl at her college and she was quite enchanted by it. So here it is.

And Grampa, here’s a little game for you to remind you of this afternoon’s trouncing.
