Our little Jamestown
GB is sick.
He’s been sick since late Saturday evening. Fever. Headache. Body aches. Nothing huge, but he doesn’t feel great. I think it could be the flu.
So today we thought we’d keep it light. In keeping with his nickname (Godzilla Boy), he watched a lot of Godzilla movies today. And even though he was sick, he really enjoyed the day.
AND we started our Colonial Period unit in a teeny, tiny way. Homeschool in the Woods offered, for free, a replica of Jamestown that you can make at home with card stock paper, some colored pencils, and glue. So we decided to use some of our afternoon doing that.
And when I say we, I really mean mostly me. This sucker is hard. The coloring was an easy job for a kid. But the cutting and gluing?….. Way too hard for GB. He has the barest of small motor skills, so I ended up spending HOURS cutting this sucker out, and then folding it in just the right way. I love the results, and so does GB. But I’m sorry, it wasn’t kid friendly.
I will enjoy having a visual aid while we are discussing the first successful settlement in America.
Hopefully tomorrow GB will be more like his usual self, and we can get back to normal. But it’s nice to have a quiet day every once in a while.
