Halloween
Halloween is a BIG day in this household. Not only is it a holiday that kids everywhere look forward to and enjoy, but it is also my dh’s birthday. So we try to really make a special day of it.
Every year we take my dh to Friendly’s so he can get his peanut butter cup sundae. And then we try to do something fun while the rest of the corporate world is working. This year a new Putt putt golf course opened near us, so we went there. My dh desperately wants to get a perfect score of 36 each time we go, but sadly, he missed it by a few strokes this year. I NEVER even come close to that. In fact, I believe I had a 61…. LOL!
GB’s favorite part of this course is the fact that there is SO many water parts. And there are lots of nets so you can ‘fish’ out your ball. Getting the ball out of the water was probably more fun to GB than the golfing….
It was also park day with our homeschooling group. So dh went with us to meet all the moms and kids in the group. It was kind of strange to have a dad there, but I’m so glad he now has faces to go with the names. GB has decided that he really loves park days, and really did not want to miss one because of Daddy’s birthday. So we added it in to the day.
When we got home from all our day’s activities, it was time to eat and get ready for trick-or-treating. This year GB was a Roman Soldier. It was very hard to find a costume that would suit him. Every one that we found was for an adult. So we bought the helmut and planned to make the rest of the costume. Me and my grand ideas. My energy and courage waned to the point that we went out again to see if we could find anything that would adapt. We got some crusader equipment and a red sweat suit. And this is what we came up with.
He was happy with the results. Plus, he gets to keep all the stuff to play with. Did I mention that he’s on a Roman kick these days. It’s all I’m hearing about.
So, after we are done…. Trick or treaters have all gone home….. We check out his haul to see if he got some good stuff. Guess what the first thing he ate was?
Chocolate? No.
Bubble gum? No.
Lollypops? Nope.
Nerds, or Airheads? No again…
This strange little boy picked out the package of pretzels! Isn’t that weird? ***rolling eyes*** He makes me laugh every single day of my life!
So Happy Birthday to my dh!!
And I hope everbody else had a hauntingly fun Halloween!
