We got hit!
Yikes!
We got hit by lightening on Sunday! It was LOUD and SCARY!! I knew we’d been hit as soon as it happened. Astoundingly enough, our electricity never went out. And that truly IS amazing, because, no lie, our neighborhood loses electricity if a contractor sneezes! I am so, SO, so tired of resetting my clocks.
I will admit this now…..only to you….. I am an addict! The first step is admitting it….
I barely survived without my tv shows and my internet. So yeah, I could never go back in time to a simpler day. Guess that makes me a modern girl….LOL!
We have spent all week replacing fried electrical equipment, and waiting around for various repairmen. I love how they’ll tell you, “Someone will arrive between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m.” And then they don’t show up until AFTER they had their lunch. Meanwhile we’ve been waiting to eat our lunch so we wouldn’t be rude while eating in front of THEM…. ***end of rant…. I apologize***
Anyway, after they left today, and I finally had my blessed internet back, I eagerly checked my email. Whoa! I sure do get a lot of homeschooling emails. I don’t notice it so much when I read them every day, but MAN, go away for a few days, and you get inundated with mail. But I was SO happy to read each and every one of them. Yeah, for email!
To get me back in the blogging mode, I will leave you with these two pictures.
GB and I attempted to make our own pretzels…. they weren’t beautiful, but they sure tasted good! They are a little light because I was afraid to try the lye bath, it supposedly gives it the nice brown color. I’ve never heard of that. So I didn’t try it. I wish I had found this web site before I started, but I’ll save it for the next time I give it a try.
And this picture is of Aquagirl in front of her cute little apartment up at the college. So far, she is really enjoying being “off campus”…. On a personal level, I like her to be “on campus” because there is such good security….. but…. she’s happy….. and that is VERY important to me.

Lye scares me, too. Next time try a baking soda bath - 2 cups warm water, 2 tablespoons baking soda.

So glad you guys are OK! Can’t believe you got hit by lightning!!! (I remember a tv that we turned into a bookshelf in the 1970’s that had been hit by lightning) And, though I don’t really watch tv, I think I’m addicted to the computer, too! Yikes!
We’ll have to try some pretzles - I’ve never tried that. And, thanks for the website link.
And, your dd’s apartment is so cute! Makes me want to be 20 again.
Actually, I never lived in an apartment as I went straight from my parent’s home to getting married! (Though I did live 1 semester in a dorm - the rest of the time I just lived at home!)

:/ Lightning strike! Eeek!
I loved being in an apartment when I was in college, but my mom wasn’t too happy about it.
