[...] The same problems exist in schools today. Students do not learn at the same pace. The No Child Left Behind act cannot change that fact. Social pressures continue to be obstacles for most children. Many schools have implemented dress codes and uniforms to curb the strain. Teachers and administrators are also faced with growing threats against their safety and the safety of their students. Educators now need training on cyber safety and possibly the correct use of bullet proof backpacks. [...]

Society today scares me. There is so much wrong with the world today. It is no longer safe anywhere, not only for our children, but for outselves as well. Everything must be "politically correct", to the point where we are afraid to even correct someone's child when they do something obviously wrong. It frightens me that a criminal has more rights than I do, that someone can invade my home and I could stand a chance of being criminally charged myself, or being sued if I elect to defend my turf.

We, as a society, have allowed this to happen because we fail to recognize bad behaviour and take appropriate steps to correct it. We allow the term "civil rights" to overshadow the overall freedom of everyone. Thomas Jefferson would be turning in his grave at warp speed if he could see how his constitution was being misused today.

Until we stand up for OUR rights, and take back control of society, we can expect nothing but diminishing returns over time, and an ultimate "1984" environment where we have NO freedom anymore.

The massacre at Virginia Tech is an example of a society that has gone out of whack. It needs fixin', and I don't have a clue how to go about fixin.

Get ready to invest not only in bulletproof backback, but armor plated cars and homes. j/k

Wow. That is sad. I remember being trained as a children's Bible study teacher. Part of our training involved how to keep children safe in case anyone dangerous entered the building. Thankfully, we didn't drill this with the children - can you imagine?

It's kind of like when we were little growing up in Oklahoma and had to practice for tornado drills. One time, there was a tornado within a mile of us and we thought we were doing a drill until much later!

I didn't choose to homeschool to keep my daughter safe, but I'm glad I don't have to worry about her!

I'm with you on this one... It's shocking and so terribly sad that there is even a market for this product. I'm so glad we homeschool!!

Holy crap, that is heartbreaking. :-( But y'know, if any of my kids end up in public middle or high school - for whatever reason - I'll seriously consider investing in one of those. Horrifying and bizarre.

It is terrible that children need clothing made for warriors. Can you imagine sending your kid to school with instructions to hide under his backpack if someone tries to shot him. Don't you think the terror he might feel would effect his studies? This makes me so sad.
