Bee training
This is funny….
Bees go from flower to flower, all Summer long, gathering nectar. So we decided to test them. We cut three colored flower shapes and glued them to an open pizza box. Then we took baby food jar lids and stuck them to the center of each flower. We filled two lids with regular water and one with sugar water. Do you think the bees went to the flower with the sugar water or the regular water?
I assumed that they would go to the sugar water. And to make sure of bee activity, I placed our experiment next to my celosia plant, which always has plenty of bees. I guess that was dumb. They much prefer real plants. They didn’t go near our experiment. But lots of other critters did. We had lots of ants (you can see them in the bottom flower), and at least one wasp. Oh well, I guess it was a decent experiment. It just didn’t work quite right. At least they all snubbed the regular water. That part of the experiment came out right.
Btw, the sun was so strong that the green paper looks yellow now. Isn’t that amazing?
