Our new resident
It must be Spring when your child decides that the little critter he just found would make a nice new addition to his “zoo.” Last year we had various little critters that we took in, made habitats for them, learned about them, observed, and finally let go. Over this past Winter we have only cared for the fish, hamster, and firebelly toad.
Here is GB’s new addition. Isn’t he cool?
After identifying him as a Broad-headed Skink, we checked out his diet, habitat and behaviors. Using this information, we have determined that he is a male. Definitely a learning experience.
Since GB has not given him a name, I wonder how long we’ll have to keep him……

How neat! I feel like we should re-name our blog “somthing zoo” with all the critters we have now: 1 dog, 4 frogs, 1 hamster, and the backyard birds we take care of each day. And, I was thinking about trying to catch one of the geckos that are around our back door every night. Or, possibly an anole. But, I think we’ll just keep it as is for now, though Alexandra is begging for a bird…
