Swim Team Champs
Today we had the 2007 YMCA Swim Team Champs. GB still has not gotten completely back to where he was before he broke his foot. But he still came out with one gold medal in the Medley relay, and a silver medal in the Free relay. He got seventh place in his freestyle stroke and we didn’t stay long enough to find out what he got in the backstroke.
The video below shows him doing his leg of the Free relay. He is in the fourth lane from the camera. He came in first for his leg of the relay. The team came in second, earning a silver medal. GB is making a few friends on this Y team and has a really good time at these meets. They enjoy playing chess and trading PSP’s to play each other’s games. He also has a friend who likes playing with his Godzilla and King Kong figures. I’m still waiting for him to say he’s grown out of little toy figures, but I guess he’s not there yet. Now we will have to wait until the end of May for Summer swimming to start.
We had to be there at 7:00 this morning, which is unheard of in this house. We never start homeschooling until about 9:30, and Daddy doesn’t even leave for work until 8:45. So we are not used to getting up so early in the morning. GB was so tuckered out this morning that he took a little nap between swims. I love pictures of sleeping children, so here he is.
Yesterday we went to see “The Last Mimsy.” I really loved this movie. I never read the book, but I want to now. And GB loved it so much, he wanted to go see it again today…LOL It was a hard plot to summarize, so I’ll give you this link instead.
Congrats to GB on a good swim meet! For the past 2 summers, we have had to be at a meet at about 6:30 every Saturday… and let me remind you, it’s summer! And some meets are 30+ minutes away!
My dd is still undecided about doing it again this year. Well, actually, she says she’s not, but we went through this last year up until the last minute. I think it’d be nice to sleep in this summer, but I also think swimming is a great sport and she makes new friends each year.

Mimsy was a favorite short story I read as a teen. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the previews lead me to believe that they killed the story. I’m happy that you liked the movie, but you might enjoy checking out the two posts I made about it.
