Vet GB

Our poodle has doggie bronchitis. :(

We took him to the vet and, although GB hates for the pups to be under the weather, he really enjoys going to the vet’s office. Our vet even talked to him about becoming a vet someday. GB wanted to know how much “gore” he would have to see, and our vet said, “Not too much.” I was grateful for the ambiguous reply, because I don’t want his enthusiasm to fade, just because he may get grossed out. There is plenty of time to come to the knowledge that a vet does have to see inside an animal’s body occasionally.

Here is a pic of GB giving Murphy his antibiotic and his cough pill.

Since our vet also pulled a small tic off of Murphy’s shoulder, we decided that tic season had arrived and it was time to apply the tic/flea repellent. This is our schnoodle, Peatsy (half poodle, half schnauzer), allowing GB to do the application.

Murphy should feel better in just a few days and be all better in a couple of weeks. Especially with such dedicated care from his own personal vet. :)

  1. I did a semester or two of shadowing a local vet while I was in high school (it was for the new gifted/talented program). One of the things that led me away from veterinary school (aside from the cost!) was watching him crop a Dobie’s ears. That was just too sad. Even though the lil’ guy was put under with a little Valium, he still cringed and whimpered the whole time. Most fun thing seen: a cow with a prolapsed uterus. It was a hoot seeing the vet with his arm in the cow, all the way up to his shoulder. And then he used a huge needle and big shoelace to lace up her backside like a tennis shoe, complete with a bow. So fun!

  2. Do you have a local vet school? I know where my sister went to school, and here locally, they have a yearly open house where the vet students show some of what they do. They also have lots of animals to look at, touch, etc.
