Our homeschooling Adventure

New Bears!

Filed under: Homeschooling, Field Trips — Robin on March 12, 2007 @ 9:19 pm

We were so excited today. We went to the zoo again. Yes, I know, we go a lot. But you know what? Every time we go, there is something new. They are constantly bringing something new to this little zoo. We love it there. Today we brought a picnic and enjoyed a very leisurely three hour visit with the animals.

They have three new bears!!! They used to have just one bear, but every time we went to visit, he was hiding. Now I’m thinking he must have been lonely, because all four bears were out and playing with each other. They were so cute, we sat and watched for about 20 minutes.

They had also had some new babies. I’m sure in a few weeks there will be loads more babies, but today we saw an adorable baby chimp, some baby Black Swan, and a tiny little baby goat.

The American Alligators were having a nice sun bath.

While we were eating lunch, we got to see an amazing display of peacock mating rituals. There was one female and four males vying for her attention. And they were all preening and strutting around our table. The female was just hoping we would drop some crumbs… and we all know what the males were hoping. Boy are they loud when they get going… whew!

  1. Beautiful pictures. And what fun! Our whole city looks like a zoo this week… it’s spring break. We were at a museum for camp - what a lot of people! I’m glad we usually have places “to ourselves.”
