Our homeschooling Adventure

Iditarod Unit

Today we worked for a long time on the Iditarod Unit. It has taken me a long time to prepare for it, but I think it’s been a big hit with Godzilla Boy. We have really enjoyed getting on the computer several times per day and check to see how our mushers are doing. I’m so sad that DeeDee had to scratch today. Apparently her sled flipped on some ice and she ended up breaking bones in her hand. She is also really wiped out. She is a breast cancer survivor, but thinks the chemo may have made her weaker. I’m sorry for her, but I still think she is an inspiration. I’m sure she will be back next year, plugging away with all the boys!

Rather than putting up a few details each day on a post, I have made a page over on the sidebar. I will update it each day with what we are doing. So, Mom, I hope you can figure out what a sidebar is. Dad, you may have to show her…LOL!

This is a picture of the probability chart we made today. You can see details over on the unit page.

I’m excited because tomorrow we are going to make some Dog Chow! Ha-ha! It’s really a candy made from white chocolate and chex mix and other stuff. I’ll put it up tomorrow if it goes well.

  1. Love the chart! I thought about you today when I read that DeeDee had scratched. Will you pick another musher to follow?

  2. Hi! I saw your comment over at A Room of My Own and thought I’d check out your blog. I love what you’re doing with the Iditarod! I was going to do it this year, but I couldn’t get it together. You’ve inspired me to try next year!

I’ve only started browsing your blog, but I’m really enjoying it. Thanks for sharing!
