Ready to erupt
Behold…. Mount Godzillus
Eruption is scheduled for sometime on Saturday. This way Daddy, Jabem and Uncle D will be able to watch, also.
GB had a little tummy ache today, so we were very slow with our curriculum. We took a TWO hour lunch so his tummy could settle. And I probably shouldn’t have gone back to the curriculum, because he was not in a very focused mood. We did History today because Monday was a holiday, so we were a day behind. And I have a feeling we will probably have to go over all the inventors again. As usual, I thought it was interesting. It’s funny isn’t it? His curriculum is SO interesting to me as an adult. Too bad kids don’t think the same
We did have fun painting Mount Godzillus, and it will be fun to watch it erupt…. I hope it works
We also made our wall map for the Iditarod trail. We will be following the race and learning about Alaska over the next few weeks. GB has decided to follow Jeff King as his musher, because he is the winningest musher. I chose DeeDee Jonrowe, because she is female ~hello~ and she has had a battle with breast cancer and has used her celebrity to raise a lot of money for cancer research: I admire that. My DH chose Martin Buser, because of his love of Alaska, and the way he treats and raises his dogs. Aquagirl chose Dallas Seavey. I was pretty surprised by her reasons. She wasn’t homeschooled, but she chose a young man who was raised as a homeschooler. Plus, he was raised here in Virginia. And he is the youngest musher to have ever run this race. Jabem chose Mike Williams. He didn’t really give us any reasons for his choice, so this should be interesting.
We will be having a family race that follows the Ititarod. Our mushers will represent us, and the winner of the family race will get the Martin Family Iditarod Classic trophy (one of our projects will be to make this), to be displayed with pride until next year
